Our Vision

IMG_5776_web.jpg

Our vision is to see the redemptive transformation of communities around the world. Our vision is to establish creative models of family that nurture children that have their identities affirmed, voices heard and destinies assured, leaving a powerful legacy for generations to come. Our strategy is to establish safe, loving, healthy homes for young abandoned, high-risk or trafficked children.

Each home will be built on a holistic model of healing and sustainability...spirit, soul, body and economically. Each home will have a "forever" mother and father to love, raise and nurture these children back to health. They will become families in the truest sense of the word.

We plan to see them through school and expose to and encourage them to explore many different opportunities. We will then provide additional training and education in the areas of their interests.

The goal is to have each home become fully sustainable. Raising organic chickens, fresh eggs, organic gardening of fruit and vegetables and healthy fresh fish farms, there will be an abundance of food for consumption. Many of the children are severely malnourished so good nutrition is key. The surplus food will be sold at local markets.

                 Our Journey

We have been actively involved in serving people and facilitating the healing process in their lives for over 35 years. Dan spent 15 years in Thailand and speaks fluent Thai (which helps)!! In 2008, Trish bolted up in bed, having had a dream which would forever change our lives. The dream came in "bullet points." The first two points were "Thailand" and "the children." We immediately understood the meaning of the dream.

So, in 2008 we began traveling to Thailand and took preliminary steps in establishing safe homes for children who were at risk of being “trafficked” or have been rescued from human trafficking and sexual slavery. As unimaginable as it is this is true of very young children.

Over the next few years, despite unanticipated and challenging health issues, we were compelled by "courageous love" to put the dream and our passion into action. Since then, we have travelled numerous times to Thailand, Myanmar and Africa. As a result, we witnessed first-hand, the devastating effects of abandonment and abuse of children. The cause of this is the deterioration and breakdown in the family unit.

We are currently working on projects to establish healthy and whole family units where abandoned, high risk, or trafficked children will thrive and find their true identities and destinies. These restored children will become the change agents for transforming their own cultures.

Since April, 2015, we have established three such homes in Thailand. We are currently supporting approx. 31 people.  Having been personally involved in the rescue of several of these little ones, it is our joy and pleasure to see the transformation of their lives.

In April 2015, we established our first Courageous Love home in Chiang Rai Province, Thailand. It is the northernmost point in Thailand and bordering Myanmar (formerly Burma) and is known as a "gateway" for trafficking into Thailand and beyond. This home has several girls, a "forever" mom and dad and are a beautiful family. The girls have become sisters and are protective of one another. They have learned to become "team players" so everyone helps each other and helps in the home.

In May of 2016, after an intense two day rescue mission in the mountains of northern Thailand, our team rescued seven children. Within days we launched our second home in Nan Province to care for these new ones. Since then (in this home) we have taken three year old twins, another three year old and a widow and her four children. Her children were being sexually abused while she was in the fields working. She begged us to take her children. Not wanting to split the family up, we offered to take her in, as well. We are paying her to help with the children, cooking and household chores. For the first time in her life, she is earning a living and not having to barter for her existence.

In 2017, we opened our first home for boys in Nan Province.

We are currently renting 3 homes for children.

This work will continue in Thailand and regions beyond.

  Great News Update

We are so excited to share with you what we are currently working on!

In September of 2016, we closed on the purchase of 2.5 acres of beautiful land on which we will build our first two permanent homes. The property already has several fruit trees and many teak trees and overlooks a lake. It is an ideal environment for raising children and carrying out the vision.

We recently completed phase 1 of the building project by completing a beautiful security wall around the property.

We are currently building a small office and reception area.

We are in the blueprint stage for the homes and plan to begin the building process by Spring 2018. There will be two homes sharing a common outdoor kitchen and dining area. *This is going to be SO MUCH FUN. The girls from both homes will be able to see each other every day. Currently, the homes are separated by a 5 1/2 hr. drive through the mountains. A high-point has always been to have family reunions, especially when we're in Thailand.

We have a team from Minnesota coming out to build a playground on the property in early 2018.

There will be another team coming out in early Spring, 2018.

The Original "Dream Team"

We join the ranks of many who have entered the fight to "defend and advocate for those who cannot defend themselves." Remember that these children are not statistics. They have faces. They are created with gifts and destinies that need to be restored to them.
